Background

Built by China Civil Engineering Corporation (CCECC), the Hawassa industrial park, located in Ethiopia's southern city of Hawassa, some 275 km south of the capital Addis Ababa, to accommodate 60,000 jobs at a (1.3 km²) or 321 acre site, is the largest specialized textile and apparel park in Ethiopia. 1.4m square meter eco-facility was built in the space, providing 410, 000 square meters of factory space across row upon row of massive, gleaming red and grey steel sheds. Hawassa Industrial Park is able to generate export revenue amounting to 1 billion U.S. dollars.

Our services

1.Establish illumination standards, provide lighting budget.

The park hosts 52 factories and a sewage treatment plant built in two phases. For lighting applications, some factories and the whole sewage treatment plant chose OKTECH’s luminaires. Partnering with design-build contractor, OKTECH designed an average illuminance of 300LUX for the plant areas in accordance with international standards and Ethiopia’s local standards, and selected appropriate models based on the standards. A detailed lighting budget was also provided to the owner for approval.

2.Provide lighting solution and material list.
 

Design works of the large-scale project are always supervised by a consultant firm with strict standards. Illuminance calculation should be required when Illumination layout drawings are provided. Design institutes need more time to prepare design data as they are not familiar with illumination simulation software, thus design schedule may be delayed. OKTECH can provide illuminance calculation and material list to assist the design institute in working out design data.

3.Optimize lighting solution, save cost budget.

As for the illumination layout drawings which had been completed, OKTECH may offer illuminance simulation services based on the drawings by using our simulation plugins of lighting fixtures, and then propose an optimized lighting solution. By utilizing innovative solution from OKTECH, the owner is able to enjoy a savings of approximately 15 percent on quantity of lighting fixtures while still fulfilling the design requirements.

4.Handle goods inspection, certificate of origin, save lead time, control commercial cost.

Industrial lighting materials were different from commercial lighting materials. We worked with the construction contractor to separate them for easy installation.

5.Provide guide to installation, work for acceptance.

Our electrical engineer went to the project site twice to guide the installation works and train the workers.
