"Environmental friendliness and low carbon, mutual benefit and win-win" - OKTECH custom light sources shine the Kingfisher Oilfield in Uganda

(Summary description)OKTECH participated in drilling rig packages for the world's first fully automated ecological drilling rig project - Uganda Kingfisher Oilfield Project in 2022.
The Kingfisher Oilfield is operated by CNOOC and Total, and it is expected to be put into operation in early 2025. The project will support Uganda to become an important crude oil producer in East Africa and bring considerable economic benefits to Uganda and even East Africa. It is an important achievement in deepening China-Africa cooperation and a key project of “The Belt and Road” Initiative.

The drilling rig is shipped to and used in the oil field area located in the Murchison Falls Park (MFNP) in the northern part of the Albertine Rift Valley. MFNP has been classified as a Category 2 park by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). International environmental protection organizations and local governments attach great importance to the issue of ecological protection. The luminaires must not only meet the requirements of the high temperature and humid environment in Uganda, but also have a specific wavelength light source to avoid disturbing the habitat of birds. These requirements are critical criteria for project acceptance and the key challenges for us.

OKTECH team fully cooperated with the project operation, communicated and negotiated with customers repeatedly, customized sample light sources, conducted technical exchanges and sample demonstrations with Chinese users and project owner for many times, and won the approval. OKTECH was awarded lighting packages for three sets of 5km fully automated silent rigs and one set of 8km fully automated silent rig.

This project demonstrates the desire of Chinese enterprises going global together and the determination to integrate resources in the industry to go global together. Adhering to the principle of “Environmental friendliness and low carbon, mutual benefit and win-win”, OKTECH shows its determination to promote construction of the Kingfisher Oilfield and to provide a win-win “Chinese Solution” for Uganda's first commercial oil field development.
